Turned-down end treatments are not crashworthy and should be avoided on approaches to traffic. Although less expensive than other types of end treatments, turned-downed end treatments may cause vehicles to vault or flip. These are acceptable on the trailing end of a one-way or divided roadway because traffic would never approach from that direction.
