Mailboxes and fire hydrants are other common roadside hazards. Mailbox supports should be a 4-inch by 4-inch wood post, or a metal post with strength no greater than a 1.5-inch light gauge pipe. Mailbox supports should not be set in concrete. Fire hydrants should be located outside the clear zone when possible.
